One seller quotes a price per pallet, another per bag and a third per tonne. To compare the offers, you need to convert them to the same unit.
Converting to a price per tonne
Divide the price of the pallet by its weight in kilograms and multiply by one thousand. Our pellets are packed in 15 kg bags: a pallet of 35 bags weighs 525 kg, a pallet of 70 bags 1,050 kg. We show the price per tonne with every pack size, so you do not have to work it out.
Pellet class
Cheaper pellets are not necessarily better value. The class determines how much heat and how much ash you get from them:
- ENplus A1: calorific value at least 17 MJ/kg, ash content no more than 0.35%
- A2: calorific value at least 16 MJ/kg, ash content no more than 2%
Which class you can use is determined by the manufacturer of your boiler or stove.
Pack size
With a larger pallet, a tonne works out cheaper. If you have somewhere dry to store the pellets, it pays to order your supply for the whole season at once.
Transport
When comparing offers, check whether transport is included in the price and how the pallet will be unloaded. Our pellets are delivered by a carrier on a lorry with a tail lift, and the pallet is set down on a hard surface at your address.
